Pancreatic cancer is difficult to treat once diagnosed. So, prevention is everything. This exciting study shows that taking vitamin C might do just that!
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most difficult cancers to treat. The 5-year survival rate is just 4%. So, prevention is the key. One way is to treat the risk factors that can be controlled, like smoking, obesity and diabetes. Another may be taking vitamin C.
This huge study compared people who had been prescribed vitamin C with people who had not. The exciting finding was that people who took vitamin C were significantly less likely to develop pancreatic cancer. While the control group had 0.88% incidence of pancreatic cancer, the people in the control group had only a 0.48% incidence of pancreatic cancer.
This promising study suggests that taking vitamin C significantly reduces the risk of pancreatic cancer.
