Epidemiological studies consistently show that people who eat plant based diets live longer (Maturitas. 2022 Nov:165:47-51).
Research has shown that compared to an unhealthy diet, a healthy diet— especially more legumes, whole grains and nuts and less red and processed meat—can increase life expectancy by more than a decade (PLoS Med. 2022; 19(2):e1003889).
Now, a new Canadian study has found that even just replacing half or your red or processed meat with plant protein foods adds 8.7 months to your life (Nature Food. 2024;5:148-57).
